PM Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif Launches Youth Skill Development Program

14-07-2023: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated flagship skills development program titled ‘Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Program’ (PMYSDP).

Addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said that with an estimated 68% of the population comprising youth, our government is focusing on multiple projects to uplift the living standards of people specially youth. The educated and hardworking youth of the country is our valuable asset whose potential can be transformed by enhancing their skills in various trades.

The Prime Minister also conveyed that government has allocated PKR 20 billion to PMYSDP which will contribute significantly to overhaul the skill trainings in Pakistan and to develop a highly skilled, dynamic and internationally competitive skilled workforce. During the ceremony, the Prime Minister awarded certificates to the graduates of Prime Minister’s Skill Development Program.

The Prime Minister appreciated the efforts of Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Mr. Rana Tanveer Hussain, management of National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) and NUTECH University a partner institute of NAVTTC for excellent contribution in imparting high demand skills trainings among youth. He lauded the successful implementation of NAVTTC-Takamol Saudi Arabia Skill Verification program (SVP) and International accreditation of 10 TVET institutes.

Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Rana Tanveer Hussain said that PMYSDP, implemented by NAVTTC, is socially inclusive and offers diversified training services to the youth in modern technology based sectors with focus on employment generation locally and abroad which is about 71 percent. Federal Minister appreciated NAVTTC’s current management for introducing trainings in state of the art cutting edge technologies keeping in view Pakistan’s fast growing freelance market of software development & technology in Pakistan. He thanked the Prime Minister for continued support in implementing the Youth Skills Development Program in effective manner. Addressing the launching ceremony Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Youth Affairs, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja termed youth as strength of the country. She thanked the Prime Minister for allocating maximum funds for the skill development sector and for total allocation of PKR 80 billion package for youth development programs.
